My chiropractic story

Everyone’s got their story about how they ended up on their path, here’s mine.

From as far back as I can recall, my heart has been pulled towards the field of healing, particularly when it comes to women and children. Yet, for the longest time, I found myself adrift, unsure of which avenue within healthcare would truly resonate as my calling.

My journey into the health field began early on, with numerous internships and shadowing experiences. During my junior and senior years of high school, I devoted half my days to the local teaching hospital, eagerly trailing surgeons, nurses, pathologists, and every medical professional in between. This immersion continued into college through various internships.

Initially, my path seemed destined for medical school. However, as I delved deeper into hospitals and shadowed allopathic doctors (admirable individuals in their own right), a disquieting realization dawned on me. While the medical interventions I witnessed were awe-inspiring and occasionally life-saving, I often observed the management of illness rather than the true healing I sought.

Then came my epiphany.

Since the age of 12, I had been a regular at the chiropractor's office. Initially prompted by typical complaints of sports-related aches and carrying a heavy backpack (a common woe among kiddos), I continued even after the pain disappeared, drawn by the remarkable benefits. Under chiropractic care, I thrived as an athlete, grew tall and strong, no longer needed my daily allergy medications, and slept soundly.

One summer day after my junior year of college, as I essentially skipped out of an adjustment, feeling that post-treatment glow, it hit me like a bolt of lightning—this was my calling. Chiropractic, with its emphasis on natural healing, harnesses the body's innate power, without the use of drugs or invasive procedures. The alignment it promotes resonated deeply with my values of holistic wellness.

With newfound clarity, I tossed out MCAT study book (a parting I didn't cry about) and dove into getting information from chiropractic schools across the country. After I graduating with a BA in Spanish and Hispanic Cultures and a minor in Biology from Juniata College, I packed up and went to study at New York Chiropractic College (now Northeast College of Health Sciences).

My time at chiropractic school unveiled the profound potency of chiropractic care and its capacity to nurture the community I hold dear—women and children. Eager for more knowledge, I pursued over 200 hours of training and testing through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, earning my Certification by the Academy Council of Chiropractic Pediatrics (CACCP) and Webster Certification.

Year after year, my passion for my work deepens, as does my connection with the community I serve. Each adjustment brings me joy, knowing I'm contributing to the well-being of those around me.
